Broadcasters and Hoosiers across the state are mourning the loss of two legendary voices. Journalist Jill Ditmire, 56, passed away after a long career in both TV and Radio. The IBA also is remembering the life and career of former Association president David Bailey, 76.

Before Esther Bower was a journalist at KXLY 920 News Now in Spokane, she was a student at Ball State University and a two-time recipient of the Indiana Broadcasters Foundation Scholarship. IBA Director of Member Services Sam Klemet spoke to Esther about the impact the scholarship had on jump starting her career, what she is doing now, and advice to students looking to break into the industry.

Session for Stations: Critical Steps to Assure Success in Attracting Prospective Employees
The IBA is hosting its first of two career fairs in 2021 on Thursday, February 25th and Friday, February 26th. In an effort to ensure both our stations and students are prepared, the IBA is offering a series of programs in advance to improve connections made at the fair. Starting on Thursday, February 4th – Laurie Kahn, Creator and President of Media Staffing Network,Inc., will start an eight-week series on attracting prospective employees, recruitment and retention, diversity, and hiring in a remote world.
Offensive Media Graffiti at Capitol, Advice on Safely Covering Civil Unrest
The violence and riots at the U.S. Capitol yesterday were plainly an attack on our country and democracy. Unfortunately, members of the news media community were caught in the crosshairs. Those who stormed the Capitol left callous messages aimed at broadcasters and other members of the media that are gravely concerning. The bravery of those who stood strong to document the unrest offer another example of the fearlessness and commitment to public service by journalists.
