Stars & Stripes Spotlight: Brewer Broadcasting

As broadcasters across Indiana prepare to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Brewer Broadcasting’s Richmond cluster is setting a strong example of how local radio can educate, engage, and unite communities.

The Richmond cluster—KICKS 96, 101.7 The Point, 95.3 The Legend, and Hometown Headlines—has launched an ambitious “Red, White & 250” campaign that celebrates our nation’s semiquincentennial while showcasing the power of local broadcasting.

The campaign begins with a patriotic transformation of each station’s branding, as logos and websites have adopted a red, white, and blue theme in honor of the historic milestone. A dedicated Red, White & 250 landing page, launched on May 15, serves as a community hub featuring local events tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary, with on-air promotions directing listeners to explore the content.

Education is a key component of the initiative. All stations in the cluster are airing Red, White & 250 Historic Segments, giving listeners meaningful insights into America’s history. Local businesses have enthusiastically joined the effort, with many sponsors pairing their traditional advertising with these historical features to help bring the campaign to life.

Audience engagement continues with Red, White & $250 Codeword Cash, which launched June 8. Throughout June, listeners have the opportunity to win several $250 cash prizes by entering online using codewords announced on-air each Friday, creating excitement while encouraging regular listening across the cluster.

The campaign also demonstrates radio’s commitment to community service. Brewer Broadcasting is selling Red, White & 250 commemorative T-shirts, with all proceeds benefiting Kash for Kids, supporting Toys for Tots. The shirts are available at the radio station and during select live remote broadcasts, with promotional support across on-air programming, station websites, and social media.

If your station is planning a program, initiative, or story—whether happening now or later this year—we would love to hear about it. Featured stations will be showcased in Bandwidth and across our social media platforms. To participate, please email your patriotic content to katy@indianabroadcasters.org so we can help share your story.
