Eight IBA member stations are basking in the glow of winning regional Emmy Awards over the weekend. The 48th annual Lower Great Lakes Emmy Awards were held Saturday and IBA member stations and their staff took home some hardware. WTHR in Indianapolis won 22 awards including “Evening Newscast,” “Breaking News,” “Spot News,” and “Overall Excellence” which was awarded to IBA Board Vice Chair Larry Delia. WFYI won 13 Emmys including three for the documentary “Attucks: The School that Opened a City.” Ball State University took home eight awards three of which were for “Ball State Sports Link.” BSU also won for Art and Entertainment/Cultural Affairs for “A New Statement: Michael Dunbar at Ball State University.” IBA board member Tim Pollard served as a faculty advisor on the program. Four other IBA member stations based in Indianapolis – WTTV, WXIN, WISH and WRTV – each won four Emmys. Taylor University won in the Long Form category for “Rest of Your Life” WANE TV in Fort Wayne won for its Health/Science – News Series “Teen Suicide: Jacob’s Story.” A complete list of winners can be found here.
