Job Description

Evening Anchor – Evansville Indiana, DMA 107. Eyewitness News (WEHT-ABC 25 / WTVW-CW 7) is looking for an evening anchor to join an existing Team of seasoned professionals. Enthusiastic, flexible, solution focused, dynamic, community focus-connected team player to be a leader / mentor in the newsroom.

Required Skills

The successful candidate will have a strong background in journalism with a solid on-air performance, excellent writing skills, the ability to lead and teach others, and engage in the community as an ambassador for the station.
• Presents news stories and other content for all platforms daily.
• Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner.
• Produces newscasts as needed and communicates clear direction with team members.
• Assists in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news programming and other content.
• Acts as a field reporter as assigned.
• Conducts interviews with news personnel and others.
• Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required in the studio and in the field.
• Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Edits video as assigned.
• Writes content for the website and other eMedia platforms.
• Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites

Education Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluent in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including proper use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• The ability to ad lib when required – accurately, precisely.
• The ability to take complicated material and relate it to an audience in a clear, complete, fair, and easy to understand manner.

How to Apply
