Rita was the first women’s basketball on-air announcer in the State of Indiana. She began her long career with WRSW AM and FM, Warsaw, in 1959 selling ads for radio sports programs. She progressed to on-air interviews and soon began doing play-by-play. Starting with a girls’ tournament game in 1976, she has broadcast every girls’ and boys’ state tournament since then. She’s still at it with no plans to retire. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.
