Political Broadcasting Public File Compliance Forms Now Available to IBA Members

IBA’s Washington counsel David Oxenford has created a 10-page “Political Broadcasting Public File Compliance Forms” document to help stations properly document political advertising for their Online Public Inspection file.  A copy is available to IBA member stations in good standing, simply by requesting a copy.

“While the FCC does not require use of these forms, the effort by IBA’s counsel David Oxenford and his legal team will help our members keep their Online Public Inspection File in good order with regard to political advertising. We’re pleased to make the guide available to IBA members for free, just by asking for a current copy,” said IBA Executive Director Dave Arland.

IBA’s attorneys note in the package’s introduction that “keeping track of the information necessary to comply with FCC rules on political advertising is not an easy task. The FCC in recent years has been aggressive in policing political broadcasting rule violations, particularly those involving the public file requirements. It is therefore important that broadcasters fully understand their obligations.” The package includes forms that come with a checklist of actions that stations should take to help track their political file compliance and is similar to the NAB’s PB-19 forms, available to NAB members.
