Sports Producer/Multi-Media Journalist

General Job Description:

ABC57 in South Bend, Indiana, is seeking an ambitious Sports Multi-Media Journalist.

ABC57 has a strong reputation for covering Notre Dame Football and Basketball through our trademark ‘Kickoff’ and ‘Tipoff’ pregame shows. We are looking for a true sports storyteller who knows how to source-build. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, strong writer, knows how to shoot and edit video (including highlights), and can speak intelligently and conversationally on camera.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Pitch, shoot, write, and edit unique sports stories.
Assist other sports talent with shooting video, including highlights and interviews.
Executing live shots for yourself and/or teammates.
Build working relationships with sources, athletes, and coaches.
Enterprise Notre Dame sports stories.
Post written and video stories to our website and social media. Also, promote your work on social media.
Must travel for sports coverage when needed.
Work with our Kickoff crew to produce pregame shows.
Other duties, as assigned.

Required Skills

Requirements:

Candidates must have the ability to tell great stories through words, pictures, and editing.
Must work well with people in a highly energetic environment.
Required to work early mornings or late-night shifts.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, hard worker, and have a great attitude.
Computer literacy required including newsroom computer systems.
Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
Must have valid driver’s license and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
