Political Advertising Requirements with IBA Washington Counsel David Oxenford

Tied in with all the FCC political advertising requirements are several documentation obligations in addition to those imposed by the public file rules.

IBA Washington Counsel David Oxenford breaks down what documents are needed.  Click the video above to watch the full segment.

Included in these obligations is the requirement to get from federal candidates a certification that they will include an enhanced sponsorship identification whenever they mention another candidate, and a requirement for a political disclosure statement where the station reveals all the policies that affect a candidate’s purchase of time on the station.

Another obligation is that the broadcaster ensure that there is an adequate sponsorship identification on any political ad.  These matters are all discussed in this segment of our primer on the political advertising rules for broadcasters.
