There is no question that 2020 will be remembered as one of the most challenging years in a generation, but it also is a year that we will long recall for the tireless efforts of broadcasters to keep their viewers and listeners informed and entertained.
The work of our TV and Radio stations has never wavered this year, despite all the unknowns. I saw how our people responded at WTWO and WAWV in Terre Haute, and know that while our staff is exceptional, we are not the exception.
Indiana broadcasters remain the trusted local source of news and information that are critical in helping keep Hoosiers safe. I have no doubt that our listeners and viewers will continue to turn to our stations in the coming year, because our communities rely on us.
The IBA plays an important role for our stations, advocating for the industry, educating our broadcasters, and helping us celebrate our successes.
As IBA rounds out another year, I am honored to take the gavel as Board Chair The IBA continues to help our stations manage through the pandemic, providing training resources, inspections, masks for our personnel, and recognition of our good efforts. From training programs to virtual career fairs, your Association is committed to ensuring your stations have the resources necessary to stay viable and be prepared for the future.
Our Board is made up of General Managers whose stations serve listeners and viewers throughout our state. Our diversity is what makes us strong, and we are open to hearing ideas from our members about how we can improve.
Soon, the IBA will be sending our membership dues notices for the coming year. As a Board, we’ve voted to hold the line on any membership dues increases for 2021 as one way to help our members steer through the months ahead. Of course, we appreciate your station’s support of the Public Education Program (PEP) sponsors – the fuel that helps us offer outstanding training and recognition activities.
I look forward to building on the success that your Board of Directors has built and the IBA is standing ready to support our members as we approach the next year.
