Required Skills
●● Entry-level; we will train a qualified candidate.
● Must know how to edit video (non-linear editing); foundational skills acceptable with willingness to learn.
● Not a job for shy people: comfortable approaching strangers, conducting on-the-spot interviews, and working solo in the field on a daily basis.
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines; remain calm under pressure.
● Strong visual storytelling skills; ability to produce high-impact content using sound, video, voice-over, and clear package structure.
● Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to operate news vehicles/units. Background check required.
● Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds of equipment when necessary.
● Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); strong organization and attention to detail.
● Flexibility to work non-standard hours (nights, weekends, holidays, overnights) in response to news events; must be available on holidays and for breaking news.
● Demonstrate solid news judgment.
● Background and/or interest in core broadcasting workflows (control room, field production/ENG, master control) with the ability to operate essential production equipment and learn new systems quickly.
● Must be willing to reside in the Fort Wayne DMA.
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications, production or related field preferred, not required.
Preferred Skills:
● Experience with non-linear editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Edius).
● Familiarity with ENPS newsroom systems.
● Electronic field production (EFP) capability and strong creative visuals in live and recorded environments.
