Job Overview
Woof Boom Radio is on the hunt for a Sports Play-by-Play superstar/Business Development Specialist to join our dynamic team. You’ll be the voice of local high school and college sports, bringing the excitement of the game to our loyal listeners. We want someone who can turn a three-yard run into an epic tale of triumph and knows the difference between a pick-and-roll and a pickleball. That same person needs to know the difference between selling to a business and helping a business sell to it’s customers.
Our last sports director, still on our team and still a major marketing partner to many businesses, has been tapped to cover some major games and help some major businesses has been with us for ten years. Before that, our sports director was with us for nearly a half-century.
You’ll be our fans’ go-to source for every buzzer-beater, home run, and overtime thriller. If you can talk sports like you were born with a microphone in hand, we need you on our team!

Required Skills

Key Responsibilities
• Call the action! Bring every game to life, whether on the gridiron, hardwood, diamond, or pitch (we haven’t done soccer recently, but if you’ve got a game, we’ve got the teams here).
• Pre-game & post-game shows: Set the stage with insightful analysis and wrap it all up like a pro.
• Your commentary: You, of course, need to know the stats, but we need you to tell the history and the storylines that make each game epic.
• Engage the community: Be the voice that rallies fans, engages local schools, and gets the town buzzing on game day.
• Collaborate with production: Work with our team to create top-notch broadcasts that listeners can’t get enough of.
• Responsbile for the managing of client accounts.
• Developing new business through appointment setting, client needs analysis questions, and putting together the proper marketing campaigns.
• Responsible for meeting revenue goals.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with your customers.
• Actively participating in station promotions and events.
Requirements
• A passion for sports, from local leagues to the pros – if it involves a ball, puck, or net, you’re in!
• Sharp play-by-play skills – keep up with the game and keep listeners on the edge of their seats. If you’ve done this before, we want to talk to you.
• Strong vocal delivery – your voice is the game’s soundtrack, so make it count.
• Improv & quick thinking – anything can happen in sports. You’ve got to keep your cool and roll with the punches!
• Strong sales and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• A sense of humor – because sports are serious but also a lot of fun.
• Ability to engage with listeners on social media to build a fanbase.

Education Required

Bonus Points If You
• Can pronounce even the trickiest last names without breaking a sweat.
• Know how to work the equipment and other techy stuff (or are eager to learn).
• Have strong marketing or sales experience.
• Are from Muncie or the surrounding areas.
