News Anchor

Job Description

Presents news stories and other content for all platforms daily.
Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner.
Produces newscasts as needed and communicates clear direction with team members.
Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordination news programming and other content.
Acts as a field reporter as assigned.
Conducts interviews with personnel and others.
Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required in the studio and in the field.

Required Skills

• Fluent in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including proper use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• The ability to ad lib when required – accurately, precisely.
• The ability to take complicated material and relate it to an audience in a clear, complete, fair, and easy to understand manner.
• Minimum three years’ experience in news reporting and a minimum two years’ experience anchoring.
• Superior on-air presence.
• Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.
• Ability to developmental, coach, and mentor or others.
• A willingness to learn new skills and adapt when necessary.

Education Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluent in English.
