Business Account Manager
Job Description
The role of the Business Account Manager at WVPE Public Radio is to attain and surpass fundraising goals by securing contributions for program underwriting, corporate
memberships, and special events sponsorships from the business, advertising, and arts community. [This is not commission based, so intrinsic motivation is required]
Required Skills
1. Secure contributions for WVPE programming, events, and activities from businesses, advertising agencies, station donors, and the not for profit community within the WVPE
service area. This will include prospect research, strategy, and materials preparation, networking, solicitation, and professionalism.
2. Solicit and secure new corporate supports while increasing revenue from existing underwriters.
3. Compose and edit standard underwriting and sponsorship agreements and on-air credit copy.
4. Track and record client accounts, appointment scheduling to include timely and appropriate notations on client accounts.
5. Utilize various methods of communication (e-mail, phone, zoom, or in person) to maintain contact with members; rewrite scripts, contract renewals, communicate changes in
schedule or new pertinent information.
6. Represent WVPE at various business and community functions.
7. Enter contract information into a tracking software program and assist with monthly billing.
8. Analyze and utilize Nielsen and other audience data for solicitations and presentations.
9. Participate with regional and national organizations on the coordination and implementation of multi-market underwriting activities.
10. Ensure compliance with FCC and WVPE underwriting policies.
11. Assist with on-air pledge drives, promotions, special events, and other development activities as needed.
12. Maintain appropriate confidential information in all matters.
13. Exhibit regular and timely attendance.
14. Perform other duties as prescribed by the Station Manager or Development Director.
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
