Why It Matters

“Receiving this scholarship furthers my education by giving me the confidence that I can succeed and thrive in broadcast news. It also helps lessen the financial strain on my family and I that college puts on us. I’m so incredibly fortunate that a jury selected me to be one of the few to have the privilege of receiving this scholarship.”
Dylan Chesnut

Ball State University

As someone who grew up in Fort Wayne through humbling beginnings, being honored and recognized with this scholarship means a lot to me, especially going into my final year at Ball State next fall. I’m proud of the hard work I’ve put in daily in the Student Organizations I’m involved in, and Job Opportunities such as the Fort Wayne Tincaps. I am grateful to have the support from all of my friends, professors, and family for always believing in me for the past 3 years, and this scholarship not only will help further my education and become more flexible going into my senior year, but it is a stepping stone for new opportunities that will arise for me, and a confidence booster for my long-term goals of going into the world of Sports Media after graduating.
Tavoris Chapman

Ball State University

“Receiving this scholarship assures me I’m on the right path. The financial support allows me to continue my education with a new confidence in my future. I’m so fortunate and honored to have IBA’s support. I can’t wait to see what my future has in store!”
Ashley Ellison

University of Indianapolis

“I am incredibly grateful for the kindness of the Indiana Broadcasters Association and its contributors for awarding me this scholarship two times now. When I first won the scholarship, it came at a very tumultuous time. My dad had died of brain cancer, and my family became a single-income household struggling to close the gap. This scholarship made the difference, giving my family much-needed relief. Hours that would have been used to work a job with little to nothing to do with my aspirations suddenly became hours for me to focus on being a student. This award has allowed me to pursue my dreams of being a political correspondent, and I am so thankful to receive this scholarship once again.”

Daniel Huber

Ball State University

Winning this 5,000-dollar scholarship will play a pivotal role in the next steps of my educational career, as I study media and communication studies. I have found a passion and drive for storytelling through the power of the media. The media is more powerful than ever, and this scholarship will contribute to supporting me throughout my time at DePauw University, as I enter the media industry in the near future. This scholarship will take my academic career to the next level, and I am confident that this opportunity will strengthen my journey as a future business professional
Lillian Jensen

DePauw University

Receiving the Indiana Broadcasters Foundation scholarship will reduce the amount of student loans I will need to take out; therefore, the transition from college to the industry and finding work will be easier and less stressful.
Cade Johnson

Ball State University

From a young age, my parents instilled in me the importance of giving my full effort to everything I pursue. I have carried that lesson with me throughout my life, particularly in my college studies. By completing multiple dual-credit courses in high school and maintaining a high credit load in college, I am on track to graduate in December 2026. This means that I will be completing my bachelor’s degree in just two and a half years. Receiving this scholarship would provide the financial stability needed to continue pursuing my education at this accelerated pace and allow me to focus fully on my studies without the added burden of paying for classes.
Nate Long

University of Indianapolis

Winning this scholarship will allow me to take full advantage of more media opportunities without financial stress. This scholarship will allow me to continue being the outgoing reporter I am, gathering impactful and effective stories around Muncie. I am eager to improve as a young reporter, and this award will support my path along the way.
Kahmara Munn

Ball State University

The Indiana Broadcasters Association Foundation Scholarship provides me the opportunity to pursue my education without the heavy financial burden that often comes with it. I was raised by a single parent, and my mom always taught me the importance of being careful with money because there were many times when she was working hard just to make sure I had food on the table.
This scholarship is more than financial support—it helps take some of that pressure off my mom so she can breathe a little easier. It also allows me to stay focused on my education and the journey ahead. Because of this scholarship, I can receive a phenomenal education at Butler University while pursuing my dream of becoming a radio and TV broadcaster for NASCAR and INDYCAR.
Landen Nelson

Butler University

This scholarship means more to me than just assistance with my education; it means that I’m able to focus on my education and my career in media with less of a financial burden. This opportunity to receive such a prestigious award from the Indiana Broadcasters Association is such a high honor, not only as a college student but as a member of the broadcasting community. I will forever be grateful for the Indiana Broadcasters Association Scholarship for their generous contribution to my education!
