Broadcast News Seminar Registration

Keeping the public informed is the heart of broadcasting and making sure the news is reported timely and, most importantly, accurately is essential to building trust with viewers and listeners.

On Saturday, September 22nd the Indiana Broadcasters Association is hosting a free program (including lunch) to give Indiana journalists and news directors tools for better reporting.

The IBA Broadcast News Seminar will be held at Flix Brewhouse in Carmel (2206 E 116th St, Carmel, IN 46032) beginning at 9 a.m. with Al Tompkins of the Poynter Institute.  Al will host a pair of sessions on “What journalists need to know about Guns and Ammo” and “How to Fight Fake News.”

The event also will include a panel discussion on “Staying Fair and Reputable with Political Communications Staff.”

WTHR-TV anchor Ben Hill will host and interview Congresswoman Susan Brooks’ Communications Director Rebecca Card,  Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb’s Press Secretary Rachel Hoffmeyer, and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett’s Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Schaffer about keeping the lines of communications open between the press and political offices.

Following Al’s sessions and the panel, lunch will be served, and attendees are invited to stay for a special showing of the movie Broadcast News.

The event has reached capacity.  We are no longer accepting registrations.
