Vice President of Digital

Job Description

This position is responsible for the overall management of Lakeshore Public Media’s digital platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, station websites, mobile apps, video/audio streaming, podcasts, web site content, social media content, digital content distribution to other platforms and all digital platform strategies. This person is also responsible for oversight of the digital staff.

Required Skills

• Directly manage social media platforms including researching, analyzing and presenting the latest social media trends and best practices to build successful social media strategies.
• Set and execute local digital strategy to extend Lakeshore Public Media’s reach and impact.
• Directly manage and provide leadership to digital staff as well as assisting television, radio and development departments with digital matters.
• Responsible for working with the television, radio, and development departments in creating and managing internal systems and processes to keep all digital platforms up-to-date and current.
• Collaborate with television, radio, and development departments to establish digital content.
• Ability to convert and customize on-air content to best display on all respective digital platforms.
• Consistently stay up-to-date and educated in the fast-changing areas of web development, design, social media and content curation.
• Direct original content on all platforms created by digital staff as well as television and radio staff.
• Establish department protocols, procedures and avenues of communication to help create an environment of consistent, quality workflow.
• Develop partnerships with other organizations and media companies to extend the reach and impact of Lakeshore Public Media’s content in the digital space.
• Track monthly analytics including standard web, sponsorships, video, mobile, social media and platforms where our content has been distributed. Provide monthly analytics reports to CEO and vice presidents of Lakeshore Public Media.
• Primary contact for digital department. Liaison for digital efforts between departments on digital matters. Works to ensure mutual understanding and manage expectations between departments.
• Provides direction to digital team on a daily basis, monitors work performance, gives positive and constructive feedback as needed, and conducts regular performance reviews. Recruits, interviews and selects new employees for digital team.
• Directs and participates in efforts to constantly improve quality of station web sites, mobile sites, mobile apps and other digital initiatives as required.
• Works established hours as well as other hours as required.

Education Required

• College degree in a related field or equivalent experience required
• 3+ years of comprehensive digital media experience required
• 2 – 5 years of supervisory experience strongly preferred
• Broadcast media experience a plus
