News Photographer/Videographer

Job Description

The News Photographer/Videographer, has the ability to operate a variety of television/video cameras, live equipment and editing software to remotely transfer recorded images or scenes for news reports.

Job Summary:
The videographer/photographer combines artistic talent, technical expertise, journalism skills and composition skills to produce video images on a given topic as assigned to help reporters and anchors tell stories and relay facts to viewers

Required Skills

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Maintains positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments.
• Responds positively to feedback.
• Ability to edit raw video to newscast form in a manner to complete the story for the viewer.
• Proficient in social networking sites. Ex: Twitter, Facebook.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• Must always present professional image as a representation of the station.

Education Required

Education/Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in broadcasting, journalism, or related field preferred.

Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to operate computer and editing machine.
Must be able to work well in what can sometimes be a high stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news. Position will require day-to-day multi-tasking, as well as managing multiple projects simultaneously with frequent change in direction and priority. Must be willing and able to work any and all shifts as necessary, including overnights/early morning, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
The successful candidate must be able to carry equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. Position often requires work in extreme outdoor temperatures. A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required.
